Beautiful Bumblebee Tattoo Spyed at Passionflower

How fun is this?

I think the larger than life size scale of the bee is just right. And those are orchid flowers on the side. She's going to have it colored in but I like it in this stage too....

Retail Therapy at Terrain

If it weren't for blogging I never would have discovered one of the most inspiring stores I've been to in a while. Sara at Saipua (which by the way is my go to blog for great flower shots) wrote about a store called Terrain in Pennsylvania. Hmmmm, I was in Pennsylvania and I think a trip such as this is just what GPS systems were made for. I had high hopes as the store came well recommended. I was not disappointed.
Words and photos cannot do the experience justice.

It was whimsical.

It had high drama.

And quiet beauty.

It was part garden center/hothouse -

part kitchen store - part apothecary.

Kind of like Etsy met Smith & Hawken on steroids.
There was total attention to detail, a strong point of view, and some really great buying going on.
A little googling and I discovered Terrain is the love child of the Anthropolgie/Urban Outfitters visionaries. Of course it is. Click here if you want to go to Terrain's site but don't be disappointed because (like so many stores), the site is just a faint shadow of the store itself.
Nonetheless, I almost never encounter a store I really love and this was it.
Thank you Terrain for giving me something special.

Fashionistas Debut at Passionflower's Holiday Party

Some of my favorite finery at the Holiday Party came from the pre teen set.

This coat seemed to combine some kind of felted wool and knotted threads. The young lady wearing it told us that her mother always gets her great clothes. Go Mom.

And here the lovely Iris, daughter of our friend Jennifer who works next door at Pewter Rabbit Antiques demonstrates her fearless fashion sense. Love the eyelet skirt.

Passion Fashion at First Friday Artwalk

One thing we love about First Friday is it brings out people in their finery....
It seemed to be an orange kind of evening.

Vintage coat belonged to her grandmother.....

And look what else was out for First Friday?.....the first tulips we've seen in a long while...
the bulb growers have learned to trick the seasons a little bit....we now see tulips and ranunculus
in the fall. These are locally grown in Philomath....

Passion Fashion - Gloves & More

Here's a young customer having fun with some wool and cashmere ruffle gloves from Echo -
Winter's coming..

And the talented artist Mary Minn Sirag sported this knockout combination at her art opening last Friday evening at Passionflower .

I am kicking myself for failing to get a photo of the back of this jacket. It was ethnic - Afghan or Turkish maybe - big bold diamond patterns. And the butterfly applique shirt is something a friend of her mother's made in the 60's.

What is Sandy Wearing?

Ladies and Gentlemen - Introducing the Magnificent Sandy Raney.
Sandy is as longtime friend and colleague. She sells me ad space in the local paper. She is also one of the most outrageous and fun fashion queens that I know. As in, she dresses in red, white, and blue for the fourth of July and I LOVE IT! So we're planning to make "What Is Sandy Wearing?" a regular feature of the blog. Feast your eyes, Dear Reader on Sandy's outfit of the day.
With shrug and without shrug.

We've never seen her wear the same outfit twice.
Come to think of it her jewelry is always different too.

Don't tell Sandy we're living in Eugene. She thinks it's Hollywood in the 1950's.

Summer Bridesmaid's Dresses

Here's a little summer linen slip dress with a touch of lace -
We think it would be a great bridesmaid dress for a casual summer wedding.
Hand made by our friends at Bella Notte in L.A.
You can custom pick from about 15 colors. But be patient, they have an eight week turnaround.

We draped it with a nubby silk scarf from Spain and a compass necklace.

Silly Girls - Clowning Around at Passionflower

How blessed are we to have the pleasure of happy go lucky children crossing the threshold of our store and finding in it ? - well let's just say there are times when Passionflower can function like a big toy box -
I like it, she's doing a monochromatic olive palette with her choice of accoutrements.

Clowning can be serious business.

And then again -

Maybe not!!!

Passion Fashion - Summer Shoes

The zipper down the back is a nice touch. For some unkown reason it makes me think of Helen of Troy. Pretty sure the Greeks and the Trojans didn't have zippers in their clothing repertoire.

Becky's Boy

I saw this amazing store window posted on ullabenulla. Decided right then and there we needed to have a mannequin. How much do I love this window? A whole lot and the frustrating part is, I can't quite figure out exactly who and where this window came from.
So Becky & I raced right out to the Gottschalk's closing sale (it was the best we could do in our small town) and bought ourselves this lily white young man.

Becky dressed him up in some of our summer scarves from Echo.

We gave him a crown of vintage delights from Tinsel Trading.
